Lori A. Barker, Ph.D. is the founder and director of the IFC Wellness Center. She received her bachelors in psychology from Yale University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCLA. She is also a professor of psychology and stays current in the field through her clinical work, teaching, research, publications, and conference presentations. She brings over 25 years experience in the field to the development of the agency, along with her passion for and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of her clients, students & the community.

"I specialize in multicultural psychology which looks at the impact culture has on all aspects of behavior, including attitudes, feelings, development, relationships, identity, etc. I believe it is essential to take culture into account when understanding clients and their particular issues. For example, I work with individuals struggling with issues of ethnic and racial identity, with immigrants adjusting to a new culture, with immigrant parents who experience conflicts with children being raised in a different culture, and individuals who may be the victims of racism and discrimination.

I am also a psychology professor who teaches, does research, and publishes in the area of multicultural psychology. I bring almost 25 years experience as both a professor and a therapist to my work with my clients. I am also available to do training for your business or community organization in diversity and multicultural competence."
