Anger is a completely natural human emotion that can be caused by various situations, events, or by the thoughts and feelings you have about these events. People have different ways of dealing with and expressing their anger. However, if your anger is uncontrollable or excessive, or if it is interfering with your ability to get along with others or to be successful at work or school, it may be a problem. Some typical physical and emotional symptoms and behaviors associated with uncontrolled or problematic anger include the following...

If you find that your anger is overwhelming, uncontrollable, or interfering with your relationships at home, work, or school, and even how you feel about yourself, you may need help in learning to manage your anger.
The goal of anger management is help you learn to deal more effectively with both the emotional feelings and the physiological arousal associated with your anger. The first step in anger management is admitting that it has gotten out of control and is having a negative impact on your life. It also requires a willingness to change your old, destructive way of responding to situations, and a commitment to responding in more positive, life-enhancing ways. You may never be able to completely rid yourself of the things or people that enrage you, but you can learn to control your reactions.
Treatment for problematic anger involves learning to identify the things that trigger your anger. Once you identify these triggers, you can learn strategies for how to control or reduce them, and to respond to them in a more effective way. You can also learn to identify the signs that you are becoming angry and develop strategies for how to reduce your anger before it gets out of control. Often there are other emotions that underlie anger, such as fear and hurt. Therapy can help you deal with those underlying emotions. In therapy, you can also learn healthier ways of expressing you anger. Working together with your therapist, you can learn to gain more positive control over your anger and improve your life.
IFC Wellness Center offers Two Anger Management Treatment Programs:
Inland Empire Anger Management Program (AMP)
IFC Wellness Center offers adult group anger management classes. Our program uses the Anderson & Anderson Model of Anger Management. This flexible psycho-educational curriculum with workbook is designed to accommodate court ordered referrals and personalized schedules. Enrollment Verifications, Attendance and Progress Reports, and Completion Certificates are provided upon request.
The AMP curriculum has four key components: 1) Communication, 2) Anger, 3) Stress, and 4) Emotional Intelligence. Objectives for AMP are to enhance levels of insight and awareness in emotional intelligence and assertive communication by applying cognitive and behavioral strategies for recognizing and managing anger and stress.
An Intake Session is required before beginning classes. A minimum of eight (8) confirmed participants is required per group before the class begins. Go to the seminar link on our home page to register or call our office for more information. Each group class is one-hour. The AMP also offers an “accelerated completion option” by attending a second class in the next hour. Anger Management classes are on Thursdays: 6:00 - 7:00 PM and 7:00 – 8:00 PM.
Fees (Cash Only):
Intake Session: $95.00
Workbook: $45.00
Group Classes $35.00 per hour
Administrative Fees: $50.00 (Preparation of: Enrollment Verifications, Progress Reports, Completion Reports, and Certificates)
The AMI program begins with individual intake sessions (as indicated) which consist of in-depth psycho-social, psycho-sexual, family and relationship histories. The initial intake also includes administration of a battery of tests to assess the participant's level of functioning in five key areas: 1) communication, 2) anger, 3) stress, 4) emotional intelligence, and 5) substance abuse. Based upon an in-depth review and analysis of the information from each adult and identified immediate family member, recommendations for professional intervention services are presented.
Objectives for AMI are to enhance levels of insight and awareness in emotional intelligence and assertive communication by applying cognitive and behavioral strategies for recognizing and managing anger and stress. Post-intervention assessments may be administered as indicated or requested to assess progress and change.
